To be able to process minimal invasive surgery is now a requirement for surgeons. All the medical practicer who wish to be trained in EITS sometimes need to wait for six months to be able to partake in the courses. The establishment of AITS greatly benefits the doctors who wish to learn the skills.
Superintendent of Show Chwan James Wu says minimal invasive surgery is the future of surgery. The technique makes smaller wounds, less infective rate, less pain, and rapid recovery. It is also a technique the surgeons are required to learn.
By the belief of innovation, dedication and passion, Show Chwan Health Care System President Huang invested over three hundred million NT dollars in establishing AITS. The training course is taught by the team leaded by Prof. Jacques Marescaux. The course provides the surgeons in Taiwan and from Asian countries with the best quality learning.
IDEAS BEHIND
To publicize Minimally Invasive Surgery-
Show Chwan Health Care System has adopted robotic assisted technologies for five years. During this period of time, robotic assisted technologies has been applied to countless surgeries of heart, gall, spleen, stomach, and kidney and so on. Minimal invasive surgery is also known as laparoscope surgery or celioscope surgery. Laparoscope is greatly used during minimal invasive surgery; however, robotic assisted technologies could help minimize trauma and shorten admission duration. The technique also decreases complication happening and curtails social and health insurance spending. Moreover, the technique is not restricted to distance. The existence of the technoque is truly a blessing to patients.
To publicize Minimally Invasive Surgery-
More than 3,000 surgeons flow into IRCAD/EITS every year to undergo trainings; some of them even need to wait for another six months to be able to participate in the courses. Base on it, Show Chwan Health Care System President Huang strives to cooperate with distinguished IRCAD/EITS and successfully establishes IRCAD/ Asian Institute of Telesurgery (AITS) in Taiwan by showing the world Show Chwan outstanding professionalism and renowned enthusiasm. Three-leveled AITS building with approximate 4950 square meters costs nearly two hundred million NT dollars, equip with a lab of twenty operation tables and a five-star animal testing lab. AITS is the first greatly founded training center in Asia.

To promote Taiwan spirit and establish global collaboration model
The cooperation model has not only turned Taiwan-France medical collaboration to a new page but also been acknowledged by French President Sarkozy. We could expect more Asian surgeons to be improved by receiving professional trainings. We also hope the model could be successfully transferred to Mainland where they could benefit more Chinese surgeons.

AITS benefits national development diversely. IRCAD/EITS was created in Strasbourg in 1994 and leaded by Prof. Jacques Marescaux who devotes himself to minimal surgery researching and teaching. Strasbourg now is a key place of minimal invasive surgery. At present, Prof. Jacques Marescaux with his team arrive AITS Changhua shall be the first vital site of minimal invasive surgery in Asia and expected to be the future cutting-edge minimal invasive surgery training center. The establishment of institute implied IRCAD would assist in improving doctors’ minimal invasive surgical skills. With a bright future ahead, Lugong is expected to restore its prosperity and internationality and draw attention from other Asian countries by cultivating surgeons and raising medical standard of Asian minimal invasive surgery. The institute presents positiveness whether it is from perspective of medical improvement, Taiwan development, economic growth or international image. AITS is indeed initiates a new chapter of international interchange for Taiwan.
